Offers change often, sometimes weekly. The terms on the casino site always take priority over our summary. Every casino here holds a UK Gambling Commission licence; you can confirm it on the Commission's public register. How we choose and rank offers

The basics

What is a no deposit bonus?

A no deposit bonus is something of value a casino gives you for opening and verifying an account, before you pay anything in. In the UK it usually comes in one of three forms.

Free spins on sign-up

Usually 5 to 50 spins on one named slot at a fixed value, often 10p a spin. Your winnings become cash or bonus funds, depending on the terms. This is the most common UK offer.

Free spins guide

Free-to-play prize games

A daily wheel, a pick-a-box or a reveal game that costs nothing to play. Prizes are spins or small bonuses. You still need a verified account, but you never stake your own money.

How the rules apply

Bonus cash

A small credit, typically £5 to £10, to use on slots. It is now rare in the UK because it is the offer type most exposed to abuse, and it always comes with wagering and a cash-out cap.

Value a cash bonus
Step by step

How to claim one, and what happens next

Claiming takes about ten minutes. Most of that is the identity check, which UK casinos must complete before you can play at all.

  1. Register

Use your real name, address and date of birth. Fake details mean your winnings are void, and the casino will find out at the ID check.

  2. Verify

The casino checks your age and identity, often automatically. It may ask for a photo ID or that you add a debit card, which is not charged.

  3. Play the spins

Spins are credited to one named slot, sometimes after you opt in. They usually expire within 24 hours to 7 days.

  4. Withdraw

Cash winnings can be withdrawn. Bonus winnings must first meet wagering of at most 10x, and the max cash-out still applies.

Which type of free offer is best?

The best offer is the one with the fewest strings attached, not the biggest number in the headline.

Bonus calculator

20 free spins at 10p is not £2 in your pocket

On a 96% slot, 20 spins at 10p win £1.92 on average. With 10x wagering on the winnings you must stake about £19 more, and the house edge takes roughly 77p of that. Most players end with nothing; a few win big and hit the cap. Our calculator simulates thousands of players so you can see the whole picture.

2026 changes

What changed for UK bonuses in 2026

On 19 January 2026 new Gambling Commission rules came into force for every operator licensed in Great Britain:

  • Wagering is capped at 10x. No bonus, free spin or promotion can require you to stake more than ten times the bonus amount or the winnings before you can withdraw. Offers with 35x or 50x wagering are no longer allowed.
  • Mixed-product promotions are banned. A casino can no longer give you free spins for placing a sports bet, or the other way round. Each offer must stay within one product.

These come on top of rules that were already in place: stake limits on online slots (£5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, since spring 2025), age and identity checks before any play, and the ban on gambling with credit cards.

For you it means a no deposit bonus from a UK-licensed casino is now much easier to convert into cash than it was a few years ago. It also means an offer with wagering above 10x is a warning sign: either the page is out of date, or the site is not licensed for the UK.

Red flags

Six signs a "free" bonus is a bad deal

If you spot one of these, skip the offer. If you spot one of the last two, skip the site.

A tiny max cash-out

A £10 or £20 withdrawal cap on 50 spins means even a big win is cut down to almost nothing.

24-hour expiry

A short deadline pushes you to play fast and to keep going. Seven days is fair; a few hours is not.

Hidden max bet rule

Bet more than the limit, often £2 or less, while wagering and the casino can void all your winnings.

Key terms buried

UK rules say significant terms must sit next to the offer. If you have to dig through pages to find the wagering, be careful.

Wagering over 10x

Not allowed for UK-licensed casinos since January 2026. A 40x or 60x offer means the site is offshore or the page is out of date.

"Not on GamStop"

Sites that sell themselves to self-excluded players are unlicensed in Great Britain. You have no protection if they refuse to pay.

FAQ

No deposit bonus questions

Are no deposit bonuses legal in the UK?

Yes. Casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission can give new customers free spins, bonus cash or free-to-play prize games without a deposit, as long as the terms are fair, clear and follow the Commission's rules, including the 10x wagering cap that applies from 19 January 2026.

Can I win real money with a no deposit bonus?

Yes, but most offers limit how much you can withdraw, often to between £20 and £100, and some require you to meet wagering before winnings become cash. The typical result is a small win or nothing, so treat the bonus as a free trial, not as income.

Why do I have to verify my ID for a free bonus?

Since May 2019 every UK-licensed casino must verify your name, address and date of birth before you can gamble, including with free spins or free-to-play games. A site that lets you play without any checks is not following UK rules.

Do I need to add a debit card to claim a no deposit bonus?

Some casinos ask you to add a debit card to confirm your identity before releasing free spins. The card is not charged. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in the UK since April 2020.

Can I get a no deposit bonus if I am on GamStop?

No. UK-licensed casinos must block self-excluded players and may not send them offers. Sites that advertise bonuses for players on GamStop are not licensed in Great Britain and offer no protection if they refuse to pay. A GamStop exclusion cannot be cancelled early. If the urge to play is hard to handle, the National Gambling Helpline is open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133.

Are no deposit bonus winnings taxed in the UK?

No. Players in the UK do not pay tax on gambling winnings. The operator pays gambling duty instead.
